About me
Started driving for Brown Bus Co. about 9 years ago. After a year I was made a Driver Trainer,I really enjoyed that.Within the next 2 years I was put in as Special needs Supervisor and within weeks, filled the Assistant Manager Position.I do miss driving sometimes but what I miss most is getting to know the kids in the school and on the bus. I deal mainly with student and driver discipline. I feel the circle of communication that has been established in our districts between Drivers,Students,Admin and parents,is key to keeping discipline issues at an all-time low. When students and parents see that drivers and schools are on the same team,It is easier to get them on board. We have proved it.I have personally watched it take shape here.

  • Darrel Christie I just wanted to say I am proud to be a part of an industry that is willing to not only stand up against bullying, but are willing to do what ever it takes to keep our kids safe. One way we are doing that is by training Drivers what signs to look for in their school bus environment. If a driver is trained to recognize the signs earlier, we might be able to prevent something we might not have noticed without the training. I really feel ALL of us have a part in fighting this huge bullying problem. Parents need to know what questions to ask.Parents also need to become an adult that a student can trust to help with out making it worse. They need to be discrete or kids will only hold it in.That in it's self can end in a tragedy.Peers play a very important part in bully prevention and intervention. There should be no such thing as a BYSTANDER! there is strength in numbers and I have seen that work first hand as a youth. What it boils down to is, we ALL need to be very alert to the signs and react in the right way.If Adults are trusted to be discrete and think before we act, It can be better dealt with. Kids will stop thinking that if they tell an adult it will "only get worse" And isn't that what we are really looking for is our kids to open up to us and trust us to help? Is it not the dream of every parent to know that their kids love and trust them through thick and thin, and can tell them anything without fear?
