How could the House cuts to the federal Head Start program affect transportation?
HR 1 could be devastating. The Center for Law and Policy says that Head Start agencies nationwide could lose a total of 218,220 pre-K students. How many of these need transportation services and, as a result, could be kicked off the school bus?

Thanks Fran. Does anyone know of a good clearinghouse for the number of Head Start/Early Head Start children who are transported by yellow bus? That is aside from contacting all 2,800 or so Head Start agencies nationwide for a head count?
As for our Head Start the loss of $$ will mean that we cannot replace our 3 aging buses. That in effect could mean loss of drivers, and # of children that we are funded for. I sincerely hope that the government does not cut Head Start.
