How much training do drivers get on behavior management in comparison to the rest of the training received? (i.e. how much out of the ~40 hours of training a year?)
Our district has a team of teachers and psychologists specifically for behavioral children. Our drivers and assistants meet with the team at each school site, throughout the year, to discuss strategies. Also, each team provides valuable information on the IEP for the driver and assistant to assit them with startegies for each child, specifically. The other side to this is you MUST have continuous training on how to diffuse behaviors on the bus, such as CPI classes, etc.
