Do you review evacuation practices in your operations?
Last month, STN reported on a Pennsylvania court case about a boy with a medically-fragile condition who severely broke bones during an evacuation because the district failed to communicate with the school bus contractor conducting the drill. The Legal Routes newsletter discussed this case last month in greater detail and asked if IEP teams are involved in planning of evacuation drills. What do you do in your operations to ensure the utmost safety for students with special needs when it comes to evacuations?
