What is your department's relationship with school principals when it comes to promoting safety?
Do principals at individual campuses know what you're doing in transportation? Are they on board with school bus safety training for the students? Do they back up the drivers on student discipline? What are your experiences?

I was just talking with the in-house counsel for a major bus company about another aspect of this issue. Too often, school administrators fail to notify transportation professionals about serious behavior code violations that happen at school and predictably continue onto the bus. I, too, will be interested in others' experiences. A common complaint I hear at conferences and by email and telephone is the fact that bus write-up's seem to find their way into a "black hole," with no follow-up by school officials.
