TASBT now has a profile and the Texas Best pictures from last weekend are posted in the photo albums in the America's Best Group. Also (America's Best Group) there is a video posted, thanks to the help of many, of an inspection bus, which will hopefully help as a training tool for future competitions. The diagnostic video will be added later today. Anyone with the TASBT executive committee that would like the username and password for posting for the group, let me know.

There is talk of a CA competition this year. I will post up what I find out this week after making contact w/ some folks out there.
For the America's Best Competition and Training Program, each state is allowed to send 2 rcompetitors. 1 as an Inspector and 1 as a Technician. We have talked about opening up the training classes to Inspectors and Technicians that are not competitors. Maybe it is time to revisit this idea??

Sorry for the mix-up Marshall
We are sending 4 guys from Ca. to the competition. Ca. does not have any such competition that I am aware of that is why I was asking for some help with study material, websites or anything that will help. -
Glad to hear about the NY competition. I was asking about them last week.
Now we need to get NJ back in the game. They have been missing the past 2 years.
Marshall -
Busdoktor, are you saying that your company is sending 4 tech's to the CA state competition? If so, can you tell me who is coordinating the state event. Over the past few years I have talked w/ several people in CA about getting a competition started. I was going to start making some calls next week to see how things were progressing.
Thanks,
Marshall -
Our Colorado State Technicians competition is proud to send two competitors each year to the America’s Best Competition and is excited about having it in TX this year, what a great state to visit.

If anyone has any king of study material or some where on the internet where I can find some help for the tech's we will be sending Please point me in the right direction, I do not want them to go unprepared Ca does things different than other states sometimes. Thanks in advance

South Carolina as a state, owns and operates all public school buses. This includes 45 maintenance facilities and approximately 5,700 buses. The SC state competition allows any school bus technician and any certified school bus inspector to register and compete. The competitor must choose to compete as an Inspector or as a Technician. Some years there have been as many as 125 competitors. The Technician Winner and the Inspection Winner move on to compete at America's Best.

Here is how Georgia operates:
We Have 159 Countys and several city systems in GA and the state is divided into 16 RESA districts in which a local technicians competition is held. The top 2 techs from each RESA district go to compete at our annual Technicians Workshop held in June each year. So we basically have 32 competing at state level. The winner of the state competition goes on to represent GA in the national competition.
The School Bus Technician’s Training and Skills Competition sponsored by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) shall be for the purpose of providing the latest School Bus training and to determine America’s Best School Bus Technician and Inspector.
NAPT’s “America’s Best” is North America’s only annual premier skills competition exclusively for the professional School Bus Technician and Inspector.
NAPT’s “America’s Best” is North America’s only annual premier skills competition exclusively for the professional School Bus Technician and Inspector.
This summer in Reno, Nev., Marshall Casey from the South Carolina Department of Education is scheduled to present on best maintenance practices, and he'll draw on the experience of a past America's Best School Bus Technician winner. What questions do you have that we could share with this school bus champion? We'll be blogging from Reno and updating our social networking sites.
Photo Albums and Videos are being posted to the America's Best Group.
The Texas Association of School Bus Technicians will be holding the Texas Best Competition April 9th. They try to model their competition after America's Best, with a written test and with hands on testing. This open to any school bus technician -Contractor or School District in the State of Texas. Eash district can send two Inspectors and two Technicians. Each division winner will go on to America's Best, which happens to be in San Antonio, TX this year.
And I want everyone to know that Mr. Casey and his 'Crew' do a great job in putting on the America's Best Competition. I can not imagine how much planning and time has to go on to put on such an event.
